
Geology
This is an introductory course on:
(i) The basic concepts of geology,
(ii) The use of maps and topographic profiles.
It is intended for first-year students in Agricultural Engineering.
The course is semester-long, with a tutorial component.
The ultimate objective of this course is (i) to learn the measures to be taken in the selection and management of agricultural land and (ii) to understand the characteristics of agricultural soil and its sustainable use.
The course is primarily divided into two chapters:
1- Geology on a global scale
2- The materials of the Earth's crust
Particular attention is given to information concerning our beloved homeland, Algeria, in each lecture.
The tutorial activities are based on: (i) reading a topographic map, (ii) describing the relief of a topographic map, and (iii) creating a topographic profile from a topographic map.
