Course Description:

       The course is the continuity of the previous courses. The new course deals with expository writing and its different patterns of development; Illustration, classification, cause and effect, comparison and contrast, process writing and definition.

      Another field of writing that cannot be neglected is letters, CVs and reports, necessary for everyday life. These are dealt with in the sixth semester. The aspects of formal writing are stressed in addition to detailing and analyzing the characteristics of business emails.

Course Objectives:

1-      To introduce learners to expository writing;

2-      To develop learners writing strategies and acquaint them with knowledge about different patterns of expository writing,

3-      Raising learners awareness of the organisation of expository writing especially multi-pattern development.

4-      To introduce learners to writing formal letters, emails; CVs and Reports (articles)

5-      To enable learners to distinguish and use formal and informal register according to the communicative situation.
